11th Blue Metropolis Montreal International Literary Festival April 22–26, 2009
Theme 2009: Words that Matter
The 11th Blue Met brings you words worth writing, works worth reading, writers worth quoting, texts worth teaching—all kinds of words that can make the world a better place. And what are those words? Inclusion and diversity, for a start. Fighting words. Respect, commitment, quality, innovation. And fun!
The Montréal-based Blue Metropolis Foundation has played a unique role in the cultural life of Quebecers and Canadians, which is a tribute to its founder. To recognize the significant contribution the Foundation has made to the promotion of linguistic duality in Canada, founder Linda Leith was awarded the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages’ Award of Excellence – Promotion of Linguistic Duality.
The Foundation is dedicated to bringing people from different cultures together to share the pleasure of reading and writing. Ms. Leith continues to direct the Foundation’s best-known activity: the Blue Metropolis Montreal International Literary Festival, Canada's multilingual literary festival. Festival-goers consider the event a multicultural and bilingual meeting place where they can share a common love of literature.
